Many independent designers start with a local factory for quick turnaround. Most local factories, however, only produce — they do not develop. UP Fashion does both: we develop your designs with you, then manufacture them, season after season.
Produces what you send. Sampling, fabric sourcing, fit development and next-season planning are usually your problem.
Development + production under one roof: sketches, tech pack, fabric, mock-ups, bulk, packaging.
Focus on brand building and selling — production, sampling and fabric decisions move to us.
30–50 pieces per style, per color. First collections welcome.
Starting with a factory in your own country makes sense: faster shipping, easier calls, quick top-ups. We understand the logic — many of our clients began exactly there.
But most local factories in Europe and North America are production shops, not development partners. They cut and sew what you hand them. They rarely develop patterns from sketches, rarely source fabric and trims for you, rarely plan how this season connects to the next. So the designer stays stuck doing a factory's upstream work — nights spent on tech packs and fabric hunting instead of on the brand.
It means one team carries the whole chain: we confirm your design in words and pictures before anything is cut, redraw sketches if you only have an idea, build the tech pack, source fabric and trims, run 2–3 mock-up rounds until the fit is right, produce the bulk with three inspections, apply your labels and packaging in-house — and when the season ends, we start the next development with you.
We are not a production machine. We are a high-end fashion factory with our own aesthetic, design capability and development capability — built around perfect fit and shape, so fit stops being the risk you carry alone.
Many of our current clients used to produce locally. They did not switch for a lower price — they switched because working with a partner who develops and produces is simply less work. They focus on brand, marketing and sales; sampling, fabric and trim selection, production and next-season development run through us.
One client moved from a domestic workshop and has now been with us for eight years, developing three new designs every month. The relationship started with one small first run.
An overseas partner is not for every situation: if you need a 48-hour top-up of basic tees, a local workshop wins on speed. But for developed fashion — styles with fit, fabric and finishing decisions — the total time you spend with a development partner is usually less, not more, because the upstream work happens on our side. Clients retail at $250–$1,000; our minimum order value is $1,500.
Why choose an overseas development partner over a local factory?
A local factory usually produces only — you still own pattern development, fabric sourcing, tech packs and next-season planning. A development partner like UP Fashion carries the whole chain: design confirmation, sampling, bulk production, packaging and next-season development. Most designers who switch tell us the same thing: it simply saves them time, and they focus on the brand.
What does 'development partner' mean in practice?
One team handles: design confirmation in words and pictures, sketch redrawing, tech pack building, fabric and trim sourcing, 2-3 mock-up rounds for fit, bulk production with three inspections, your labels and packaging applied in-house, and next-season development. You focus on brand and sales.
Can you work from just an idea or sketches?
Yes. Send a reference photo or rough sketches — we redraw the designs, confirm the effect with you in words and pictures, then build the tech pack and start sampling. You do not need a finished tech pack to start.
What is the MOQ to work with you as a development partner?
30-50 pieces per style, per color, with sizes mixed within one color. First collections of 3-12 styles are welcome — that is how most of our clients started.
