UP Fashion is a small batch clothing manufacturer specializing in perfect fit, shape and luxury quality. 30–50 pieces per style, per color — the quantity most factories refuse, handled with the same discipline as a 500-piece run.
30–50 pieces per style, per color. Sizes mixed within one color at no extra cost.
2–3 mock-up rounds, final sample in 14–30 days depending on the style.
3 inspections per garment to AQL 1.0–2.0, mannequin try-on on every piece.
$1,500 minimum. Clients retail at $250–$1,000.
Our floor has run 30–150 pieces per style since 2016, with multi-skill operators instead of single-step lines. Half of our clients are one-person companies. Small batch is not a side service we tolerate — it is the business we built.
Two disciplines from our real cases carry over to every small order: fabric is rested 48 hours off the roll before cutting (mill tension stretches the length — resting lets it return to true size), and fit is tested in motion — walking, sitting, squatting, bending — not just on a hanger.
It changes the price per unit: below 50 pieces per style there is a small premium, because setup is fixed. It does not change the quality: the same three inspections, the same AQL 1.0–2.0, the same mannequin try-on on every single piece, the same video-documented packing. A 30-piece order gets the factory, not the leftovers.
Most of our clients start with 3–12 styles at 30–50 pieces to test the market before committing to hundreds. Your first run proves sell-through; the reorder scales on data. One client started exactly this way and signed an eight-year agreement with three designs every month.
Is 30 pieces really enough to start a brand?
It is how most of our clients start — a pilot proves sell-through before you commit to hundreds. One client sold 28 of 30 blazers at a trunk show and re-ordered 150.
Will quality drop because my order is small?
No. Three inspections per garment to AQL 1.0–2.0, mannequin try-on on every piece, video-documented packing — identical to a 500-piece run.
Why is small batch more expensive per piece?
Pattern making, grading, marking and line setup are fixed costs. Spread over 30 pieces they raise the unit price — spread over 150 they almost vanish. The per-unit premium below 50 pieces is that math, transparently.
